An hour and a half after WWE was supposed to go live with an update on Roman Reigns on the WWE Network, cutting into the CM Punk documentary, the update finally happened with the scheduled WWE Slam City being interrupted.
Scott Stanford ran the update from the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and was joined via telephone by WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann. Amann said that the surgery was successful and everything looks like it’s going to be fine with Reigns now staying at the hospital overnight for monitoring.
Dr. Amann said that Reigns was in serious pain this morning while in his hotel and contacted the WWE medical team to alert them. He was ordered to go to the hospital immediately and he found out that a loop of intestine had wrapped around his hernia, which resulted in emergency surgery.
This was something that Reigns had been dealing with lately and it was not an injury that he suffered in the ring.
The former member of The Shield will be out from a minimum of a month to as long as three months and Dr. Amann made it clear that Reigns will not be cleared to return until he’s completely healed from the injury.
