Daniel Bryan will be the guest tomorrow on ESPN’s SportsCenter during the WWE weekly segment which is hosted by former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman. Coach announced Bryan as his guest immediatley after Bryan revealed that he is retiring from WWE.
“Let me be VERY clear. This is not a work. Not a storyline. Real life. And it stinks for one of the really good guys,” The Coach wrote after some expressed thoughts that this is a storyline or a complete work.
Meanwhile, some of Bryan’s co-workers used Twitter to say thank you. “Congrats on an incredible career. Glad I was able to be there for it. An honor to share the ring w/ u,” wrote The Miz, who was his “pro” during the first season of NXT.
Dolph Ziggler added, “Selfishly. I always wanted 1 more, DB!” while Ryback wrote that Bryan was one of the guys who made him want to better himself even more in the ring.
His previous employer, Ring of Honor, also commented on his unfortunate announcement. “Thank you for your contributions to @ringofhonor,” their tweet said. Bryan worked as the American Dragon while at Ring of Honor and had some of the best matches of his career there.
His sister-in-law, Nikki Bella described him as one of the smartest, funniest, strongest, most courageous and brave individual she knows. “Tonight will be emotional for all of us as we watch one of the best wrestlers that ever stepped foot into that ring retire. Bryan you will leave such an impactful and inspiring legacy behind. Very big shoes to fill! Thank you for inspiring me and coaching me and helping me become a better me,” she added.
