DirecTV not airing WrestleMania 32 on traditional pay-per-view

Despite WrestleMania 32 potentially being the biggest WWE pay-per-view in the history of the company both in terms of attendance and revenue, one of the biggest pay-per-view providers, DirecTV, is passing on the opportunity to carry the show on the traditional PPV format.

DirecTV also failed to carry WrestleMania 31 last year and their last WWE pay-per-view event was WrestleMania XXX from New Orleans. DirecTV, along with DISH, are refusing to broadcast the shows due to the WWE Network, claiming unfair competition since WWE Network is $9.99 and a traditional pay-per-view will cost nearly $60.

Last month, a DISH representative told us that they have made no decision if they want to carry this year’s event, giving the same statement that the company put out last year. DISH did not carry WrestleMania 31 either.

This year, for the first time ever, WWE is giving away WrestleMania for free for new WWE Network subscribers. You can subscribe to the WWE Network at http://w-o.it/wwentwrk.
