The Pontiac Silverdome, home of WrestleMania III, fails to implode!

It looks like the Pontiac Silverdome, the home of WrestleMania III, is stronger than anyone thought! After surviving the bodyslam heard around the world, the iconic Silverdome was supposed to be imploded today, but after the charges were set, the stadium stood still!

At 8:30 this morning, explosions meant to break the metal beams that support the upper ring of the stadium were supposed to destroy the top half and collapse. The detonation happened and went according to plan, but the Silverdome didn’t buckle as shown by the helicopter video from Local 4 News.

Crew will have another go at imploding the stadium at a later date.

WWE packed 93,173 fans inside the Silverdome in 1987, for a new indoor attendance record at the time. The show was headlined by Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant and the record stood until WrestleMania 32.
