Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion and WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame last night in Las Vegas.
At a ceremony held at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort and streamed live on the UFC Fight Pass service, it was UFC President Dana White who did the honors for Ronda. Ronda came out to her WWE theme song “Bad Reputation” to a big ovation from the crowd, marking her first UFC appearance since December 30, 2016.
“Because of you, I am the first woman standing up here accepting this incredible honor. May I be the first of many,” Ronda said. She is often credited with kickstarting the women’s revolution in mixed martial arts and Dana White openly says that she managed to change his mind to start a women’s division after he was completely against it in the past.
“Together, we built this. This division. This sport. This revolution,” Ronda continued. “Together, we have redefined what it means to be strong and sexy. We have changed what it means to fight like a girl,” she said as the crowd cheered on.
Ronda’s speech headlined the Hall of Fame event, an event which also honored Matt Serra, Bruce Connal, Art Davie and the Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua fight. You can see some parts of her speech below.
