Matt Hardy fulfilled his last non-televised live event commitment with WWE last night in Corpus Christi, Texas, and while the former champion said never say never, he hinted that this is the end of the road for him.
“Tonight here in Corpus Christi, is most likely the last time you’ll ever see Woken Matt Hardy in a WWE ring,” Hardy said in a video as he prepared to leave the arena. Hardy said that there was a lot of speculation about his future online and he thanked the WWE fans for welcoming him and his brother back last year at WrestleMania 33, saying he will never forget the reaction they received. Hardy said he has a wife and kids and it’s time to go home.
In a separate tweet, Hardy wrote, “Thanks for the massive love tonight, #WWECorpusChristi.. I fulfilled my final advertised live event commitment. Please support my partner, @WWEBrayWyatt, going forward. He’s outrageously talented & we’ve become kindred souls during our time teaming together. Thank you.” Hardy added that he did so much more than he ever imagined in this industry and thanked his fans for the incredible journey.
Hardy is said to be taking a role backstage as an agent/producer. His contract, and that of Jeff, expire in March 2019.
