WWE donating $100,000 to Knoxville foundation in lieu of Kane’s upcoming appearances

WWE has donated a whopping $100,000 to the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation after Knox County Mayor Glenn “Kane” Jacobs requested the money in lieu of his upcoming appearances on WWE television.

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced the donation in a press release Tuesday afternoon. “I appreciate his gesture to the heroes who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way and look forward to his continued progress in his mission,” said McMahon, who greatly supported Jacob’s run for mayor.

The foundation which is receiving WWE’s donation supports employees and their families who’ve suffered a catastrophic injury, illness, death or other significant event. “$100,000 is a significant contribution especially for the family of a fallen police officer or a firefighter that could help them through that transition of losing a loved one,” said Jacobs. “I’m extremely proud that my career with WWE will have a positive impact on the community through my role as Knox County mayor,” he added.

The check will be presented to the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation the next time WWE comes to town for a live event in January 2019.

Kane has been announced for the WWE Super Show-Down event in Australia next month where he will be in the corner of The Undertaker for the match against Triple H. This will be his first WWE appearance since getting elected mayor last month.
