In an interview with Newsweek to promote NXT’s move to USA Network, Triple H also discussed the future of 205 Live.
205 Live currently tapes immediately following Smackdown Live on Tuesdays but Smackdown is now moving to Friday nights from October 4. The status of 205 Live tapings have not been addressed yet but HHH dropped a few hints during this interview.
Triple H said that 205 Live was always “an island onto itself” and “became lost in this limbo.” He mentioned that we will start seeing more of 205 Live going forward and they’ll be associated more with NXT and the talent there. “For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful. It creates more opportunities for more people,” he added.
Filming 205 Live following NXT at Full Sail University will also probably give the show a better look and feel rather than a full-sized arena.
The WWE Hall of Famer said that for the first two weeks on USA Network, WWE will give a glimpse of what NXT is and give people a taste while leaving them wanting more but come October 2, when the first full two-hour show on USA Network starts, “you’re really going to see what NXT is all about.”
