With no signs of the coronavirus spread slowing down, major movie studios are delaying many of their releases and Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise suffered the same fate.

Disney announced yesterday that the highly-anticipated movie will now be released on July 30, 2021, a full year after its original schedule.

“Our @disneystudios JUNGLE CRUISE is officially pushed by one year to be released JULY 30, 2021. I feel great and bullish about this date as it gives us time for Disney to be fully operational in all their businesses – theme parks, hotels, cruise ships, but more importantly, it gives the world time to bounce back to living confidently, productively and joyously once again,” Johnson wrote in a message on social media. “Thank you, Disney leadership team. And thank you to all the fans worldwide. The movie will be worth the wait. Stay healthy, my friends. D”

Joining Johnson in the leading role for the big-budget flick are Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. It’s directed by Jaume Collet-Serra off a screenplay by Michael Green, Glenn Ficarra, and John Requa.
