Jake Roberts feared he would lose his spot if he didn’t go to Dynamite tapings

Jake “The Snake” Roberts admitted that he went to the AEW tapings in Jacksonville during the coronavirus outbreak because he felt he would lose his spot if he refused despite Diamond Dallas Page telling him that he can’t return to his house if he leaves.

“You know, my fear was that if I missed one, something would happen and I wouldn’t be needed anymore. So stupid man. You know, I just…so insecure, I’m so insecure. So I had to go,” Roberts reflected as he sat at DDP’s house again after DDP found a way to bring him back.

Roberts was living in a hotel close to the airport and had room service, restaurant open, a gym, and swimming pool. But then the gym closed, everything closed, and it got depressing. Knowing that he wasn’t going to return back to DDP’s place, Jake took all his belongings with him. As a former addict, being locked inside a room wasn’t helping. “I didn’t like what I was thinking. I wasn’t thinking about drinking or doing drugs…but I wasn’t far from thinking about drinking and doing drugs,” Roberts said, adding that he didn’t like the way he was feeling.

After he sent out a tweet explaining his situation, Page decided to let him back in, although with some conditions. Page said he had to think about his daughter and her baby and while he told Jake he cannot come back, Jake helped him build the DDPY brand so he had to reach out and help him.

“I didn’t want to let him go,” Page admitted. “But I couldn’t stop him from getting this opportunity.”
