WWE’s Vince McMahon and the UFC’s Dana White will be among the industry leaders negotiating with the White House as the United States attempts to begin reopening its economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Announcing the “Great American Economic Revival Industry Group,” at a press briefing yesterday, United States President Donald Trump has appointed 15 sports leaders – including WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon – to spearhead a plan to reopen sports in America.
McMahon joins others from the NFL, UFC, NBA, MLS, NHL, PGA, and other organizations tasked with the plan to revive the sports industry once this COVID-19 pandemic is deemed safe. The President also appointed other groups with leaders from different sectors to draw up a plan for their sector.
The press release said that these bipartisan group of leaders will work together with the White House to “chart the path forward toward a future of unparalleled American prosperity.”
Two weeks ago on the first day of WrestleMania, McMahon was invited to a conference call with President Trump along with Dana White and other sports league commissioners to discuss the state of sports in America right now. Trump told them that he wants fans to be able to enjoy sports in person as quickly as possible.
