El Hijo del Fantasma unmasks on NXT

The new NXT Cruiserweight champion El Hijo del Fantasma unmasked during NXT yesterday and revealed his new name: Santos Escobar.

It was also revealed that the two masked men who have been kidnapping NXT stars in the parking lot over the past two months are associated with the former Fantasma and they also unmasked to reveal they are Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.

Drake Maverick was the trio’s first victim, who came out to congratulate Fantasma for his win. As a new full-time member of NXT, Maverick asked for another title shot and Fantasma was okay with that. As soon as the match was agreed, the two masked men appeared and just when it was about to be two on two, Fantasma turned on Maverick to reveal his association with the two men.

After the three destroyed Maverick and Wilde and Mendoza unmasked, it was Fantasma’s turn to remove his mask and announce to the world his new name. “I am Santos Escobar, the NXT Cruiserweight champion and no one can touch me,” he said.

This is not the first time that the 35-year-old removed his mask. In 2018, he lost a mask vs mask match against LA Park at AAA’s TripleMania and had to unmask in front of thousands of people in Mexico.
