SAG-AFTRA tweets about “powerful conversation” with Thea Trinidad

SAG-AFTRA, a union representing over 160,000 entertainers, today wrote on Twitter that they had a “powerful conversation” with Thea Trinidad, who until last week was wrestling in WWE under the name of Zelina Vega.

Vega was fired last Friday before Smackdown, but Vega knew what was coming and decided to go down in a blaze of glory, tweeting that she supported unionization. 10 minutes later, WWE tweeted that Vega was fired. SAG-AFTRA, and its president, Gabrielle Carteris, tweeted to Trinidad their support and Carteris even gave her e-mail address so Trinidad could reach out.

“We support her and others as they work to protect and empower themselves,” SAG-AFTRA’s tweet today continued.

WWE later confirmed that Trinidad was fired for breach of contract after she refused to stop using Twitch and then created an OnlyFans account.

Trinidad said that the conversation with SAG-AFTRA was “very powerful indeed” and thanked them for their time and insight. SAG-AFTRA has vowed to work with professional wrestlers to help them.
