WWE starts Tropicana Field residency tonight with Smackdown on FOX

WWE starts a new residency at the Tropicana Field today in St. Petersburg, Florida, as the ThunderDome moves away from the Amway Center after a near four-month stay.

Tonight’s Smackdown will be the first show inside the baseball field which in theory could sit just over 40,000 fans. But for now, there will be no fans in attendance despite the space to socially distance everyone in the stands.

WWE will be staying inside the Tropicana Field until the new MLB season starts and then, if the situation remains the same, the company has to find a new home base where to film Raw, Smackdown, and also pay-per-views.

Two matches have been announced for tonight’s Smackdown, including Sami Zayn vs Big E in a non-title match and Montez Ford vs Dolph Ziggler. Sasha Banks and Carmella will be doing the contract signing for their title match at TLC.
