John Cena confirms he is returning to WWE

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, 16-time world champion John Cena confirmed that he is eventually returning to WWE but did not specify when.

Cena is rumored to be starting a program with Roman Reigns which will lead to a SummerSlam match at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on August 21.

When Van Vliet asked Cena if it’s not a matter of if you are coming back but it’s a matter of when you are coming back to WWE, Cena responded that he’s absolutely correct.

Cena said that he’s excited for WWE performers to return being in front of fans after a year and a half performing behind closed doors and admitted he wouldn’t have done well without an audience.

“But I also think that this time without an audience has allowed performers like Roman Reigns for example, to unobstructively mold his character. If you send Roman Reigns from city to city with paying audience after paying audience, there may be some audiences that don’t even care what he has to say,” Cena said.

Cena had high praise for Reigns and said that Roman needed this time to develop who he is without any boos or cheers and now when he goes in front of a live audience, fans are not confused.

“I as a performer, am happy for the WWE to have crowds again. I really look forward to get back in front of those crowds. But I am happy for everybody that their music can hit and they can feel that genuine excitement that makes all of our hearts beat,” Cena said.

In the interview, Cena also mainly discussed his movie career, the movie F9, his relationship with Vin Diesel, being the baddie in the movie, and much more.
