A report published by the Japanese-based website Gamebiz.jp shows that WWE has dissolved its WWE Japan company on September 1 and permanently closed its offices.

The end of WWE Japan was published in a public notice in the government bulletin yesterday, September 2.

WWE had big plans for the Japanese market with an NXT Japan expansion at one point. WWE also tried to get into agreement first with All Japan and then New Japan promotions but that went nowhere. With the coronavirus pandemic still lingering, it’s also unclear if WWE plans to return to the country in the foreseeable future. Japan did not allow fans for the Olympics or Paralympics and obviously WWE will not travel there if fans will not be allowed in.

The only WWE offices listed outside of the United States on the WWE corporate website now are Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and England.
