WWE UK stadium show breaks records for pre-registrations

Alex McCarthy of UK-based talkSPORT tweeted today that WWE informed him that they received nearly 60,000 pre-registrations for tickets for the upcoming WWE premium live event in Cardiff, Wales in just 24 hours after the announcement.

This was a new record for pre-registrations, including WrestleMania, suggesting that tickets for the yet-to-be named September 3 event will be selling big.

WWE has not held a stadium show in the United Kingdom since 1992 when they held SummerSlam at the old Wembley Stadium. The last UK pay-per-view was Insurrextion in 2003 at the Telewest Arena in Newcastle.

The September show will take place at the Principality Stadium, formerly known as the Millennium Stadium, a stadium which holds nearly 75,000 fans in a football setting. It’s the only large venue in the UK which has a retractable roof and due to the unpredictable weather, it made sense to hold the show there.
