Former two-time WWE champion Drew McIntyre booked his place in the main event of Clash of the Castle in early September after last night on Smackdown he defeated Sheamus in the opening match of the show to become the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Universal championship.
The Clash show will take place in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium where over 60,000 tickets have already been sold. The September 3 show will be the first stadium show in the United Kingdom in 30 years and will be the first major show since SummerSlam 92 in the country.
The participation of McIntyre in the main event was largely expected and the Scotsman will surely get a hero’s welcome. The question now is who he will be facing: Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar? We won’t have to wait much longer to find out the answer as Reigns and Lesnar go head-to-head tonight in a last man standing match at SummerSlam.
Despite being a two-time WWE champion, McIntyre never got to come out as champion in front of fans as both his title wins came during the ThunderDome COVID era.
