Indi Hartwell surrenders the NXT Women’s title

NXT Women’s champion Indi Hartwell has surrendered her championship and a new champion will be crowned at the upcoming Battleground premium live event.

Hartwell surrendered the title in the main event of last night’s NXT on USA Network. Still with a protective boot and crutches following an ankle injury from last week’s title defense, Hartwell wondered how she’s going to get out of the ring. Enter Dexter Lumis, who helped her out in her final NXT appearance.

The former champ was drafted to Raw last week on Smackdown.

A tournament will start next week to determine who will battle for the title on May 28 and after Hartwell left the title in the middle of the ring, the NXT women’s roster came out for a brawl, all wanting to get their hands on the gold.

Hartwell won the title in a ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver in Los Angeles on April 1.
