WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team titles to be unified

The WWE Women’s Tag Team titles and the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles will be unified in a match which will take place on the June 23 episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

The unification match comes after both set of champions – Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler along with Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre – had a confrontation on Smackdown. Baszler told the former NXT stars that there’s no room for both titles on Smackdown and words quickly turned into fists.

With a lack of women tag teams on the WWE roster, unifying these two titles will make the most sense and now with main roster stars appearing on NXT as well, it will be easier for one set of tag team titles to be defended across all brands.

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn have been NXT Women’s Tag Team champions since the Stand & Deliver premium live event in April while Rousey and Baszler won the titles on the May 29 episode of Raw.
