Five title changes at Slammiversary, Trinity wins Impact Knockouts title

It was a busy night at Slammiversary with a total of five out of six titles changing hands during the broadcast. Only Alex Shelley came out of the show still holding his Impact World title, with every other champion falling to their respective opponent.

The night started with Kenny King defeating Joe Hendry in the pre-show to become the new Digital Media champion. While the win was not clean, it did not matter as King now holds his first title in Impact since 2015. Eight years of wait!

Killer Kelly and Masha Slamovich became the new Impact Knockouts Tag Team champions after they beat The Coven, ending their run as champions after just a few months. This is the first time that either Kelly or Slamovich have won any kind of title in Impact Wrestling.

The often-controversial Lio Rush is the new Impact X-Division champion after he beat Chris Sabin for the gold. This was a very short reign for Sabin, who only won the title last month. The match was also a quick one, under 90 seconds, as Rush attacked Sabin before the match started and then after a doctor advised Sabin not to wrestle, he started the match and was quickly pinned.

Subculture, the team of Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster, became the new Impact Tag Team champions in a four-way match. The Brits will now highly likely have to face the reunited Rascalz pretty soon, who made their presence felt last night. This is their first run with any title in Impact and their first since becoming WWE NXT Tag Team champions.

And last and certainly not least, Trinity defeated Deonna Purrazzo to become the new Impact Knockouts champion. This was the co-main event of the show and Fatu ends Purrazzo’s three-month reign after making her tap out to her Starstruck submission.
