The Beast Incarnate and The American Nightmare shared a special moment in the ring following their third encounter, a match which Cody won after three Cross Rhodes.
Brock stayed in the ring, removed his gloves, went face-to-face with Cody and offered to shake his hand. After a big handshake, Brock followed with an ever bigger hug and then raised Cody’s hands to all four sides of the ring.
In the post-show press conference, Rhodes was asked about that moment that he shared with Brock.
“I don’t think it’s dawned on me what a moment like that really means,” Cody replied. “That will be something that I look at and have a deep, deep appreciation at.”
Cody said that Brock has given him more German duplexes, more F5s and obliterated him more than anyone else but thinks that was a “bond by battle” moment.
“I’m very grateful for what happened. I don’t want to wrestle Brock Lesnar again, but I’m grateful that I had the opportunity,” he continued.
Cody put over Brock Lesnar and labeled him as a “unique once in a lifetime individual” and that when he’s gone, the world will realize what a talent he is.
Cody said the moment reminded him of how his father Dusty looked at Harley Race.
“And I thought, you know, maybe I got my Harley Race. There’s nobody tougher than Brock Lesnar,” he concluded.
Later in the press conference, Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed that what Brock did was not part of the script.
