Two title matches announced for Payback 2023

Two title matches were announced for Payback, the next WWE premium live event which will take place on Saturday, September 2.

On Raw last night, Raquel Rodriguez came out on a crutch to face Rhea Ripley, who minutes before went through Candice LeRae. But Raquel had a surprise as she threw the crutch at Ripley and hit her with a boot. The action went into the ring and Raquel hit Rhea with a fallaway slam and Ripley bolted.

“If it’s not obvious, as of today I have been medically cleared for action,” Rodriguez said, who then informed Ripley that she will wrestle her for the WWE Women’s World title at Payback.

Also on Raw, Shinsuke Nakamura positioned himself as the number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight title, revealing that he told Rollins last week that he knew about his broken back and that he would take him out at Payback.

This will be Nakamura’s first shot at a major world title in a very long time.
