Late yesterday, a report by PWTorch.com stated that WWE has “declined to meet Edge’s request” for his demands to sign a contract extension and remain with the company after his contract is up at the end of September.
Many are of the belief that the WWE Hall of Famer is on the way to AEW and his demands are because AEW already has an offer for him for a specific amount.
This morning, Edge posted a video on his social media saying that he woke up to several voicemails, texts, and everything in between from friends and family wondering what’s going on so he thought it would be best if he addressed the situation himself.
“There’s nothing going on. There are no hard feelings between me and WWE. I love WWE, it’s my dream gig, it’s all I ever wanted to do,” he said.
“I didn’t come at them with some crazy contract or anything. They didn’t deny me, I have a contract extension sitting in my inbox. I just don’t know what to do. The first time I had to retire it was forced, and this time, the choice is in my lap and it’s a lot harder,” Edge continued.
Edge talked about how WWE gave him “that night” on Friday in Toronto and it was his best night of his career.
“A lot of people will say you should retire at WrestleMania or this or that but it’s not their career. Friday night was really special for me and I don’t know if that can be topped, to be perfectly honest. And then if we think we can then great but I need to sit with it.”
Edge concluded saying that whatever he decides, be it Percy Jackson, wrestling, or sitting on his rocking chair, it’s because he’s having fun and having fun and raising his kids at this stage of his life are the most important things.
