There have been many iconic moments at Money in the Bank over the years. With the event just around the corner, it’s safe to say that it’s an exciting time for WWE, as contenders battle it out to win the briefcase that gives them a chance to verse the champion.
James Ellsworth Makes a Bad Call
The first women’s Money in the Bank match marked a pivotal point for WWE. It helped to showcase the evolution of the division. Natalya, Tamina and Charlotte, along with Becky Lynch rose to the challenge, but it seems that Carmella had a bit of an unfair edge during the match. Ellsworth knocked Lynch from the top of the ladder, and he took down the briefcase for Carmella.
The decision, quite rightly, ended up being reversed but she still ended up with the briefcase during the second match, which happened at Smackdown. Carmella held onto that title shot for almost a year, but ended up cashing it in so she could verse reigning champion Charlotte. Even then, she needed a boost from the IIconics to get the job done.
Fans were upset at WWE for booking the first match, only for it to be ruined by the interference from Ellsworth. It’s going to be exciting to see the upcoming women’s matches at Money in the Bank 2024, which is taking place in Canada. Fans can stream the event on the WWE Network app. Although not all sportsbooks offer the chance to bet on WWE, as the outcome is scripted, you can often compare different Canadian sportsbook providers online to see which ones are the highest-rated, as well as taking advantage of various bonus codes.
The Shield on the Pre-Show
The pre-show in WWE is often reserved for matches that are of the least importance. That’s why it was so surprising to see The Usos and The Shield battle it out for the tag team titles during the MITB pre-show in 2013. Both teams put on a stellar show, but people were confused as to why The Miz vs. Curtis Axel was on the main card when this was happening prior.
Being on the pre-show might, in some ways, sound like a bit of a demotion but this has never stopped Jey and Jimmy Uso from outshining everyone. The bout lasted for 15 minutes and the fact that WWE put on two teams like this on the pre-show, made it one of the most memorable moments. This is especially true when you consider the fact that it ended up being one of the best matches of the night.

Seth Rollins Defeats His Brother
The Shield have all had their standout moments at MITB, and for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, 2015 would be the year they went on to headline. The Architect dismantled the Hounds of Justice and this led to Rollins becoming a member of the notorious group The Authority. The former best friends put on a real show that night and for over 30 minutes, they battled it out, to make one of the most memorable PPVs in the show’s history.
With MITB quickly coming around, it’s an exciting time to be a WWE fan, as you never know whether the next match will be one of the greats.
