CM Punk gives most detailed account of his return night at Survivor Series

Appearing on the brand new No-Contest Wrestling podcast on The Rich Eisen Podcast Network, WWE Superstar CM Punk gave the most detailed overview of how his Survivor Series return came to be last year.

Speaking to hosts O’Shea Jackson, Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Punk said that when he arrived at the Allstate Arena for the show, he still didn’t have a signed contract and was not sure if the deal was even going to happen. He was given a hoodie and told to stay in his car in the back, where several production trucks were also parked.

Punk said that the truck next to him had a photo of Steve Austin so he took a selfie and sent it to Austin, who replied with, “WTF kid?”

Punk said that they cleared the hallway and he was brought in through the service elevator and hid in Triple H’s office just as the WarGames match was starting, awaiting news if the deal is going through or not. When he was told it’s on, he walked through and arrived at Gorilla where it was packed with people since the show was about to end.

Bayley was the first one to give him a bear hug, telling Punk that she knew it was him when they told everyone to clear. He also met Stephanie McMahon, who he had not seen in 10 years.

Punk said he had no idea what he was going to do or how the layout of the entrance was and was trying to communicate with Triple H what he wants him to do. Triple H told him to walk up to the cages, where they held the wrestlers before they entered WarGames, but Punk thought he needed to walk to the main cage in the ring. Among the confusion, he finally figured out what was required of him and all of a sudden they hit his music and the rest is history!
