In what may come as a surprise to many, WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin has announced that she is departing WWE as her time “has come to an end” as Raw ring announcer.
“I love you all tremendously and this does not mark the end of my art, I have a lifetime more to share,” she wrote in a long post shared on social media.
Irvin thanked all WWE fans, the women’s locker room, the crew, and WWE Superstars for raising the bar over and over again and for risking their bodies and finding new ways to keep fans shocked and wanting more.
“There is no form of entertainment like this and not just any entertainer can be a WWE Superstar,” Irvin continued. “The respect I have for you is more than I can express. Thank you for making it so easy to pour emotion and excitement into your introductions. You are the stars that the stars idolize. It doesn’t get any bigger and I’m proud to have used my voice to let the world know it.”
Irvin also specifically thanked Paul Heyman, Michael PS Hayes, Michael Cole, Brian “Road Dogg” James, Scott Armstrong, Gabe Sapolsky, George Carroll Jr, Triple H, and Mark Henry for giving her her big break.
“To my fans, my entire career I’ve been waiting for you! We are meant to be and I can prove it. Stay tuned. All my love! And still…” she concluded.
Irvin was hired by WWE in 2021 and was given her big debut the following year on Smackdown. Since then she has called all WWE shows, including calling WrestleMania XL all by herself, earning unlimited praise from her peers.
It’s unclear what led to her departure from the company, but her boyfriend Ricochet has recently moved to AEW which might or might not have played a role in the decision.
