Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting through his Select service that TNA Wrestling approached WWE to induct AJ Styles into the TNA Hall of Fame this year, a request which was denied by the company, at least for now.
Sapp says no specific reason was given although TNA sources believe the reason it was turned down is because of Styles’ current injury and perhaps future storyline plans.
Styles worked for TNA Wrestling from 2002 until 2014 and was an integral part of the company since its early days, winning every title imaginable in the promotion including being a two-time TNA champion and three-time NWA champion when the NWA World title was TNA’s main belt.
The former WWE champion suffered a foot injury on the October 4 episode of Smackdown in his first WWE match since June. It’s unclear how long Styles will be out for at this point.
