The big news this week is the apparent demise of CM Punk from the WWE as several insiders are reporting that the former WWE champion went home after a meeting held before RAW.
Punk has been removed from all advertising for upcoming WWE shows and as things stand right now, Punk is pretty much gone from the company. His contract runs till July and last week he told MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani that he’s not sure what he was going to do when it expires.
PWInsider.com reports that after major rewrites to the show, McMahon ordered his creative staff to change parts of the show after Punk told him he’s going back home and not coming back.
Punk has always said that he would like to headline WrestleMania before he eventually hangs up his boots but that spot has been taken by two part-timers in the past couple of years – The Rock and now Batista.
The former champ was vocal about Rock coming back and taking the top spot and eventually did the job for him at the Rumble, allowing Rock to win the title and go on to headline WrestleMania 29 with John Cena. This year Batista returned after four years and was sent directly to the main event as well.
Punk did not directly tackle the subject publicly but yesterday wrote a message on Twitter saying, “Thanks for all the support. Keep being you guys, it’s pretty cool.”
