Sometimes, it is hard to differentiate whether WWE is more about wrestling or entertainment. What we know for sure is that we eagerly expect every new event and every new duel. We’re lucky to live in an age where WWE events are available on the web, television, streaming platforms, YouTube, and other outlets. Technology and the all-powerful Internet have made the life surrounding WWE a joy to be living.
The year 2025 has just begun, and we have so much to look forward to in terms of both events and matchups. The WWE writers and people in management have their hands full of work bringing us the best wrestling product out there week in and week out. Out of respect toward them, we will lay out the key wrestling events and matchups for 2025 in this article.
Upcoming Events
Like many other entertainment companies, such as Netflix or Stake.com, WWE is looking to expand its brand globally. Due to this trend, wrestling events are now organized in Australia, Germany, France, Scotland, and even Saudi Arabia. The company has been in good hands since Triple H took over as the creative force behind the curtains. We’re not saying Vince McMahon wasn’t a good leader, but we’re having a blast right now, and Triple H deserves the props. When you consider that he was pushing for global expansion, you understand that WWE wouldn’t be what it is today without Triple H. We say this about both the GM and the wrestler.
Even people doubting Triple H at the beginning of his career outside of the ring had to take their hats off. At Wrestlemania 40, he brought back the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena, and The Rock. It is rumored that Cena will even be there for the Royal Rumble event in 2025. Some claim that 2025 RR will be a farewell to John Cena from the company and vice versa. As you can see, the upcoming WWE events are not only going to be entertaining but also emotional. Let’s take a look at the top events that await us.
WWE Royal Rumble 2025
As you know, the Royal Rumble is an annual WWE event. It is the event that marks the beginning of the road to Wrestlemania. Those who exit the RR victorious can fight for the World Championship. The stakes are as high as ever, and we expect high-end competing duels. The upcoming Royal Rumble is the 38th event of its kind. It is scheduled for February 1st, 2025, and will be streamed live from the famous Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. As we said, the biggest name entering this event will be John Cena, who will start his farewell tour in Indiana.
Elimination Chamber 2025
Here we have an exciting event. This EC match is the first of its kind in the last five years. Saturday, March 1st, is the date set for Elimination Chamber in 2025, and you should mark it in your calendars. It will take place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It has become almost a tradition that EC matches are held outside of the US, as this is the consecutive event that will be held in Canada, as the last one was in Montreal.
WrestleMania 41
The mother of them all. WrestleMania must be one of the events that made WWE so popular among the fans. The 41st edition is scheduled for Saturday, April 19th, and will run until Sunday, April 20th. The venue is the brand new Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, in Paradise, Nevada. WrestleMania 41 has all the makings of an event that will go down in history as one of the best ever in this domain. The venue is ideal; the crowd will be fantastic, and the participants will give their best. After all, the Allegiant Stadium is expected to host 65 thousands of WWE fans.
Before WrestleMania 41, only the WrestleMania IX event was held in Las Vegas. Sin City is ready to make history. If you’re into sports betting, you can bet the upcoming event will be one of the best ever. The only downside is that we have to wait so long until it starts as it was postponed for a few weeks. The tickets for the event have been on sale for a while now, so hurry up and get yours before the supplies run out. While April appears far away today, it will come around the corner in no time.
Money in the Bank 2025
This is where we will be mysterious. Not like Rey Mysterio, but close to it. Money in the Bank is an event that will occur in 2025. The mystery is that we do not know when or where. The WWE either doesn’t know where it will be at the moment, or they are keeping it a secret. Last year, they took the event to Canada, and it was on July 6th. So, it would happen in the summer months just before the SummerSlam. We love surprises, and the fact that Money in the Bank is in the TBA phase only means that WWE is waiting for some other significant events to play out to create the most entertaining matchups for that event.
SummerSlam
The biggest party of the summer has been on the program since 1988. It is a truly cherished event by the WWE organization. Each year, barring one, SummerSlam is scheduled for August, and this year is no different. If you want to witness this event this year, plan your visit to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for Saturday, August 2nd and 3rd. This event could be your chance to witness history, as this is the first time in history that SummerSlam is a two-day manifestation.
Top WWE Matchups Expected in 2025
WWE is going all-in in 2025, and we can expect more than a few captivating matchups. While some bouts are already scheduled, some are in the works, and some we hope to see down the road. The year is long, and WWE writers can be an imaginative bunch. While one could argue that scripted WWE duels lack the excitement of real contact-sports duels like those in MMA, we beg to differ. They have their charm, and if it’s not your cup of tea, you can skip the continuation of this article and skip right to UFC Odds instead. Please continue reading for all of you who’re genuinely into WWE and what it brings to the table.
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
These two have a shared history, as both came from the Legacy faction. Cody Rhodes has been making waves since his return to the WWE in 2021, and this teacher vs. Pupil story would be mouth-watering for the fans. Orton is a well-known face in the WWE, and the 14-time champion is a top draw regardless of who his opponent is. On the other hand, Rhodes is an undisputed champion right now, and this doesn’t bode well with Randy. Orton has been aiming his titles for a while now, and with two in a not-so-good relationship, this might be a chance he’s been waiting for. Especially after American Nightmare sparked Kevin Owens’s attack on him. WWE always has rich stories in store for the loyal fan base, and this might just be the richest of them all.
John Cena vs. Anyone?
John Cena is one of the biggest legends of modern wrestling. The man has become a synonym for WWE, and like many of his teammates, it was time for him to move on to greener pastures. Like Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista before him, Hollywood came calling, and Cena accepted the call. In the meantime, he has made a stellar career, and no one doubted he would be a top draw in Hollywood, too.
Despite becoming a superstar in a different field, John Cena didn’t forget where he came from. This year, he will make his farewell tour and a final goodbye to the world of WWE. So, who will be his opponent? For one, we believe he’s going to have more than one. His storyline for this year will be on for the ages. WWE writers have a golden goose in their hands here, and we’re sure everyone will feast on its eggs. So, who could be John Cena’s best opponent?
Not even the biggest fans of WWE are unsure who he could face first, who is in the middle, and who will be his final opponent. Some names circling around include R-Truth, Jacob Fatu, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Chad Gabe, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and The Rock. Of course, some of these matchups are fan fiction. Still, everything is possible, and we want nothing less than a spectacle every time John Cena appears.
The Rock vs. Roman Reigns
This duel was dubbed for too long without ever happening. WrestleMania 40 was the closest we got to it, and since then, we can’t get this duel from our minds. It is a duel that made the WWE fan base divisive. The fraction wanting Cody Rhodes to finish his story got what they wanted in Philadelphia. The Bloodline is debating who is more fitted to be the Tribal Chief. If The Rock has any say in it, we know he wants that spot. At the moment, Roman Reigns is not a world champion, making the possibility of this duel even more realistic. Also, last year, everyone and their mother were convinced that Reigns would easily win this duel. Today, no one is that sure.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens
These two will go at it, and there’s almost little to no doubt about it. Kevin Owens is becoming one of the most dangerous men in the WWE, and his heel adventure is only getting started. The battle in a Ladder Match will be an ideal opportunity for both men to battle for the undisputed title. During Saturday Night’s Main Event, Owens was defeated by the American Nightmare. But that was not the end, as KO returned with a Package Piledriver and struck Rhodes, saying that this one was incapable of fighting back.
After this manic performance, Kevin Owens was parading the Winged Eagle WWE Title, boasting that he was the real champ. Rhodes took the rightful path and challenged Owens to a Ladder Match that would have both belts hanging in the rafters, with only one of the fighters being able to reach them at the end of the fight. Owens accepted the challenge but not before attacking Cody again, showing that his heel turn is the real deal, and we will be dealing with a real menace from now on. This gave everyone enough reasons to fasten their seatbelts and wait for a showdown between Rhodes and Owens.
The incoming Ladder Match will be one to remember. The venue is already set, and the two men will face off at the Royal Rumble on Saturday, February 1st. The match will be streamed by Peacock in the States and by Netflix internationally.
Summary
We have an exciting WWE year ahead of us. The company is scheduling and planning high-end events all over the place. From Australia, across Saudi Arabia and Europe, to the United States, WWE will leave its mark in 2025. As you’ve seen above, they already have dates set for some events, the biggest ones, while some are still in the TBA phase. Regarding matchups, nothing is written in stone, and we can only guess. What we know is that in the next few months we will be seeing the legends of old in Dwayne The Rock Johnson and John cena, and young bucks in Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes alike. At the end of the day, we hope some of our predictions will be spot on. Either way, the WWE schedule is one worth monitoring. Entertainment in its purest form – that’s what WWE is.
