Triple H and The Rock comment on Cena’s heel turn during post-show press conference

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque described the ending of the Elimination Chamber as one of the most powerful moments in the entirety of John Cena’s career.

Triple H said that no one really saw this coming and praised Cena for agreeing to pull the trigger on a heel turn which he never wanted to do during his time with WWE.

“It puts you in a place where it’s now or never. And you can ride that out and you can rest on the things that you have done or somebody like him can double down and say screw it, I want to be challenged right to the last moment, I want to go out on my shield,” Triple H told the press.

The Rock also participated in the post-show press conference and said that they’re all long-gaming this. He mentioned that he got criticism when he showed up at Bad Blood at the end and he did the hand signs and walked off but it all ties to the long storylines that they have in mind.

“I knew this day was coming,” The Rock said.

Talking about Cena turning heel, Rock called it “an amazing moment” and the performers live for moments like that.

“No one knew really what was going to happen. Maybe a few called it. But for the most part, I thought the moment was incredible and I personally love that,” The Final Boss continued.

“What I felt tonight, and I’ve been a part of some really phenomenal professional wrestling angles and as a kid growing up I’ve seen, we all have, some amazing pro wrestling angles,” The Rock said. “I felt like tonight stood beside all of those that were the iconic angles.”

Cena also appeared at the press conference, but in total heel mode, sat down, grabbed the mic, dropped it, and left without uttering a word. The Rock later revealed that Cena flew in from Budapest hours before the show and left to Africa immediately following the press conference to continue his filming commitments.
