Ace Steel released from AEW, becomes first backstage fight casualty

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that Ace Steel is no longer employed by AEW and was officially released this week.

Steel, a personal friend of CM Punk, was involved in the backstage brawl along with Punk, Omega, and The Young Bucks and Steel got physical, including biting Omega.

He had been working for the promotion since earlier this year, assuming the role of a producer.

A few days ago, Steel posted a small clip from the Blues Brothers movie where Aretha Franklin is singing Think, which includes the lyrics, “Oh, freedom, freedom, freedom, freedom, Oh, freedom, yeah, freedom!”

Steel becomes the first casualty of the post-All Out backstage brawl, with Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson still suspended while the status of CM Punk remains unknown.
