AEW to hold a Jon Huber tribute show this Wednesday live on TNT

The New Year Smash themed episodes of Dynamite will be delayed by a week as this Wednesday, AEW will present Brodie Lee: A Celebration of Life tribute episode.

The change was announced by AEW President Tony Khan who wrote, “This Wednesday on #AEWDynamite, we’ll celebrate the life of Jon Huber (Mr. Brodie Lee) with a show including tributes and a special card of matches dedicated to The Exalted One. This night is intended to honor Jon, but also this is for Amanda, and their sons Brodie (-1) & Nolan.”

Five matches will be taking place, including one featuring three of Huber’s son Brodie’s favorites tag teaming together for one night only. Each match will have a member of The Dark Order as a tribute to their fallen leader.

The matches are Cody Rhodes, Orange Cassidy and 10 vs Brian Cage, Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs; The Young Bucks and Colt Cabana vs Matt Hardy and Private Party; Hangman Page, Jon Silver and Alex Reynolds vs MJF, Santana, and Ortiz; Anna Jay and Tay Conti vs Dr. Britt Baker and Penelope Ford; and Lance Archer, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson vs. Eddie Kingston, The Butcher and The Blade.

Khan also said that he hasn’t slept much lately and while he has a lot of responsibilities across his different roles, this was the hardest week he has ever experienced. “I’ll miss Jon very much. I worked all night on a tribute card to honor him, the response from Amanda & from fans made me cry. Thank you.”

With this schedule change, night one of New Year’s Smash will now air on January 6 while night two will be on January 13.
