AEW World and IWGP Heavyweight title matches announced for Forbidden Door 2023

Two more matches have been announced for the upcoming AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, with the IWGP World Heavyweight and the AEW World titles on the line.

SANADA, who is the IWGP Heavyweight champion, appeared via video on Dynamite and issued a challenge to anyone from AEW. It was “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry who then accepted SANADA’s challenge later in the broadcast and the two will now meet at the pay-per-view.

Meanwhile, another NJPW star, Hiroshi Tanahashi, also appeared via video on Dynamite, saying that last year he was close to beating Jon Moxley for the vacant AEW title and wanted another title shot. AEW World champion MJF initially rejected the challenge and then said that if Tony Khan books the match, he might even no-show. Of course, the match was then made official.

These two matches join Kazuchika Okada vs Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States title which have already been announced.
