A big Dynamite ended with a big return as AEW champion CM Punk made his first appearance on television since early June.
After Jon Moxley successfully retained his Interim AEW World title against Chris Jericho, the Jericho Appreciation Society hit the ring to pounce on the champ. But the Blackpool Combat Club came out to help their fellow team member and the two factions ended up in a huge brawl.
Cue “Cult of Personality” and Punk came out to a thunderous ovation from the Minneapolis crowd. Punk cleared the ring and then came face-to-face with interim champ Jon Moxley. Moxley welcomed back Punk by giving him the finger, knowing a date with Punk is on the horizon.
Punk had a leg injury which he suffered in a six-man tag match on the June 1 episode of Dynamite, keeping him out of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
He offered to give up the title the following week but he said Tony Khan convinced him to keep it and will now face Moxley in a title unification match, quite possibly at All Out.
