Cody Rhodes addresses rumors of NXT moving to Tuesday nights

Addressing the rumors that NXT will be moving to Tuesdays after WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes joked that they could come up with a “wonderful statement” when that is announced during a conference call with the media yesterday.

“What could I say? ‘Congratulations to NXT on a successful move to Tuesday nights. The real winners are the fans who can watch NXT and Dynamite live every week as this is a marathon and not a sprint.’ I could say that…but I don’t want to be sassy or a jerk because I think them moving…perhaps something else will end up on Wednesdays,” Cody said.

The marathon and not a sprint remark is a dig at WWE for the statement that they put out after AEW won the first head-to-head against NXT back in October 2019.

Cody said the company has to be careful not to be “reactionary” as their Dark broadcast could have competition on Tuesday.

“We just have to put out the best show. If they want to beat us, they have to put out a better show. It’s honest competition,” Cody continued, adding that he would love for AEW to be alone on Wednesday nights but is prepared to battle anything else that might replace NXT.

The former TNT champion also remarked that it’s all good between the two locker rooms even though there are are digs and fun and believes that it’s the management side where tension comes in.
