Fenix released from AEW

PWInsider.com is reporting that Rey Fenix has received his release from AEW and is now a free agent.

His name was removed from the AEW website as well, consistent with other recent departures.

The situation between AEW and Fenix took a turn for the worse when his contract was extended due to his time injured even though he made it clear that he was not staying with the company. His brother, Penta, also hit free agency and made his WWE debut in January.

The two were expected to leave together and join WWE together until his contract was extended. He was not used on AEW television since July 2024.

Throughout the past couple of months, Fenix made it very obvious he wanted to leave and used social media to vent his frustration, accusing AEW of different things, although he later deleted the posts.

With his free agency now confirmed, Penta is expected to show up on WWE television soon.
