AEW President Tony Khan issued a statement today announcing the suspension of Jeff Hardy effective immediately.
“We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving,” Khan wrote.
Hardy refused to get treatment prior to his WWE release saying that he wasn’t willing to sacrifice his family for a month in order to keep his job.
“In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety,” the statement continued.
Hardy is expected to appear in front of a judge today. He was charged with three counts yesterday following his arrest.
