Jon Moxley spiked on his head, loses AEW International title in unplanned finish

Jon Moxley got injured during his title match against Rey Fenix last night on Dynamite: Grand Slam after he was spiked on his head following a Black Fire Driver.

When Fenix hit the Black Fire Driver, Moxley was seen saying something to the referee as he went for the pin and he did not kick out at two but referee Rick Knox awkwardly halted his count despite Moxley not doing anything to break the count.

After a pause in commentary, Excalibur uttered, “Moxley may have twitched, I’m not sure,” as they tried to cover up the ref’s botch.

Fenix then picked up Moxley again and delivered a second Black Fire Driver, this time, Moxley’s head barely hitting the mat, and Knox counted to three and a new AEW International champion was crowned much to the surprise of everyone.

The former champion was diagnosed with a concussion later.
