Shane McMahon issues statement on meeting with Tony Khan

Following the reveal of a meeting with AEW President Tony Khan, Shane McMahon issued a statement to Busted Open which WWE Hall of Fame Bully Ray read on air.

The meeting reportedly took place earlier this week and a “spontaneous” photo of the two in a boardroom was deliberately leaked to the press to generate talk.

“Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting,” McMahon said. “We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family.”

McMahon also said that he congratulated Khan on the five-year anniversary of AEW and is looking forward to see how he evolves the business moving forward.

According to people close to the situation, McMahon and Khan also discussed potential collaborations together in the future. McMahon had expressed desire to eventually show up on AEW television now that he has no association at all with WWE.
