AEW today announced the signing of Thunder Rosa to the promotion, almost a year after she made her debut on an episode of Dynamite.
The delay in the signing of the 35-year-old came due to the fact that she was under a deal with the National Wrestling Alliance and actually took the NWA Women’s title with her to Dynamite to defend it a couple of times during her early days there. She lost the title in November of last year after she was defeated by Serena Deeb, who is also signed to an AEW deal. Thunder Rosa, along with Britt Baker, became the first two females to main event an episode of Dynamite in an unsanctioned lights out match.
Last weekend, Rosa made a surprise appearance at the Impact Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view as the mystery opponent for Deonna Purrazzo in her Knockouts title match.
Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, she has worked for Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor, Women of Wrestling, and NWA before securing a deal with AEW.
