Title for title match announced for Forbidden Door 2024

A title for title match has been announced for the AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view, a match which will pit Mercedes Mone against Stephanie Vaquer.

The winner of this match will walk out with the TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s titles.

Mone was originally penciled in to win the NJPW Strong Women’s title when it was inaugurated in May of last year but she ended up breaking her leg in the match against Willow Nightingale. The finish was changed on the fly and Willow ended up victorious.

At Double or Nothing, Mone got her revenge and defeated Nightingale for the TBS title and is now the favorite to win the NJPW Strong Women’s title as well come Forbidden Door.

This would not be the first time that Mone would be a double champion as she was a double champion in WWE during the pandemic era, although those were not two singles titles, but rather one single and one tag team.
