WWE Extreme Rules 2019 PPV Pick’em report

Hey everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA with tonight’s EXTREME RULES PPV Pick’em. Tonight, Colin will defend his WOPC Championship in a Triple Threat vs. Heel Turn Tom and yours truly! Who will come out on top? Read on to find out!

Quick note: Any matches added to the card, including Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (and possibly Owens vs. Ziggler) were not on the card as of this morning, so they were not picked.

With that, ON WITH THE EXTREME PICKS!

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match
The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) (c) vs. The Usos (Jey and Jimmy)

Colin: I love The Revival. I love The Usos. Probably the best two tag teams in WWE at the moment. Should be a great match. The Revival to keep the straps.

Tom: About a year ago, The Revival were at Waterloo, IA for George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Now they are champions. Watch out for Sheamus next year. The Revival will win and go onto a feud with The Club.

Magnum: I’m not sure if a Revival vs. Club feud could happen, but it’s possible. I’ll take The Revival to win and probably end this feud. Tom’s right, these teams will probably move on after this show.

Handicap match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley (c) vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

Colin: I’m kinda hoping Sasha Banks returns to even the odds here at some point….and then turns on Bayley! That’d be awesome. Bayley retains with probably Cross doing the job, keeping Alexa strong in the process.

Tom: How can Bayley defeat two people? Well lucky Nikki Cross is a CRAZY woman and will get upset with Alexa and open the door for a quick pin and victory for Bayley.

Magnum: Tonight could be the night Sasha returns, but even if she doesn’t…Bayley should retain while the Bliss/Cross connection will probably implode after the match. In the event that Alexa Bliss gets the pin, I wouldn’t be surprised if she leaves Cross afterwards. Co-champions? I don’t think so!

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Drew Gulak (c) vs. Tony Nese

Colin: Hm, okay. I don’t know. Gulak? I don’t really follow 205 Live.

Tom: Drew Gulak is an interesting character in comparison to the other cruiserweights. I see Chad Gable as the next champion. Since he is not in the match, I pick Gulak to retain.

Magnum: Drew Gulak’s rise to the top of 205 Live is well-deserved. He’s worked hard on his craft for a number of years, and the character he has created is the kind of guy you love to hate. Tonight, he’ll retain the title. Gulak wins.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
Daniel Bryan and Rowan (c) vs. The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) vs. Heavy Machinery (Otis and Tucker)

Colin: Here’s one thing I do NOT want to see again for now: The New Day as tag team champions again. I’m okay with Daniel Bryan and Rowan keeping the titles for the time being. The tag team division in Smackdown is crap anyway. DB and Rowan retain.

Tom: I did say Vince likes a big sweaty man. What is more bigger and sweatier than the Heavy Machinery. And they do the silly humor I bet Vince dies laughing at. While they will probably be champs someday, today is not the day. I see Bryan and Rowan walking out as still your WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Magnum: I think WWE has played it really smart with Heavy Machinery – they continue to rack up wins on TV, even though they’re coming up short on the PPV. They will remain contenders, as will the New Day, but tonight belongs to the Planet’s Champions. Bryan and Rowan retain.

Open Challenge
Aleister Black vs. Cesaro

Colin: This should be a fantastic match. Two great wrestlers. Black is a proper superstar and I think he will defeat Cesaro in this match of the night.

Tom: I like Cesaro. He has been built up with some good wins. It would be good to see the leader of the C-Section to get a really big push. But this baby isn’t coming today. Black for the win.

Magnum: C-Section?! Oy vey. As for tonight, I’m smelling a red herring. Yes, Cesaro was the man who “opened the door” to face Mr. Black, but I believe there will be a greater challenge awaiting Aleister after this match. Follow the Fireflies.

WWE United States Championship Match
Ricochet (c) vs. AJ Styles (w/The Club)

Colin: Tough one. Unless they go the DQ route when The Club interferes, AJ Styles can’t lose again. Plus, if they want to push The Club, AJ has to get the title in this one. New champ.

Tom: This is my pick for match of the night. I like both wrestlers so this is tough. I am hoping for something more with The Club and that can start tonight. Styles clash and AJ is your new WWE United States Champion.

Magnum: I don’t know – I think something could happen where AJ is DQ’ed or possibly caught in another roll-up to lose. I think Ricochet will get the upset and retain, but he’s going to get hurt. Regardless of what happens, AJ will ascend to the #1 Contender’s spot just in time for Summerslam.

Last Man Standing
Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley

Colin:
Their Raw segment was awesome but I’m still not that into this program. I mean, Strowman has been losing the matches that matter the most and Lashley hasn’t done anything special since his return. Hopefully some big spots here. Strowman wins.

Tom: I’m not excited for this match. Feels like we have had this too much. Prove me wrong WWE that it will be good. I have to make a pick, so Strowman. Vince likes a big sweaty man.

Magnum: I really don’t think they can top what happened on Raw a few weeks back. That was spectacular. I’m wondering if there will be some kind of a bait and switch here. Since Heyman is a Braun Strowman guy, I’m going to pick him to win.

No Holds Barred Tag Team Match
The Undertaker and Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre

Colin: This program needs to end and Shane needs to stop having a match at every show. It’s not cool anymore. Remember how happy we were when he returned? God how things have changed since then. I don’t mind Shane, but I don’t want to see him wrestle every show. Reigns and Taker for the win.

Tom: This match is just a little more interesting to me than the Lashley and Strowman match. I want either Roman or Undertaker to turn on each other, but with a new t-shirt on WWEShop.com, I don’t see that happening. It’ll be a dog party in the yard tonight as The Undertaker and Reigns win.

Magnum: I think my favorite moment during the whole Shane push was a few weeks back, when the fans started chanting “NO MORE SHANE!” I’m still not 100% sure that Shane got the hint – either way, “Stone Cold” Kevin Owens is picking up steam, so gimme a HELL YEAH and a Stunner to Shane to be the difference. The Dead Man and The Big Dog take the victory.

WWE Championship Match
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Colin: I fully expect Kofi to keep the WWE title heading into the first Smackdown on FOX. I like Joe, he deserves a big title run, but it won’t be this Sunday. Kofi wins, no cash-in.

Tom: I like Joe. He is a good heel. He deserves a run as champ to see how it turn out. Also the plucky underdog Kofi can last so long. Kofi will tap to the coquina clutch and Samoa Joe is your new WWE Champion.

Magnum: I’m pretty sure that AJ & The Club will be gunning for the title at Summerslam, so give me Kofi to retain the title.

Last Chance Winners Take All – Extreme Rules Mixed Match
At Stake – WWE Universal Championship and WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Seth Rollins (c) and Becky Lynch (c) vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans

Colin: I can’t see Baron Corbin ever as a WWE or Universal champion. Unless WWE wants a riot, I don’t think they would go in that direction. Plus, after the beat down on Raw, I fully expect everyone’s favorite couple at the moment to retain their respective titles. Rollins and Lynch win.

Tom: Like Taker/Reigns…unless Rollins or Lynch turn on each other, then I’m not too interested in this story line. To make my pick interesting, I see Rollins hitting the curb stomp on Corbin and then Lynch locking in the Dis-arm-her for the tap out. Becky will take winner takes all literally and she will walk out as WWE Universal Championship and WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Becky Two Belts is back again.

Magnum: Tom, you’ve officially gone insane. 😀 I don’t think she can legally win both titles that way. I know Vince doesn’t want to hear this, but Baron Corbin as Seth’s top challenger (after Seth defeated Brock Lesnar) is a complete joke. End this madness now. Seth and Becky retain…

but…I am pretty sure Vince has something else up his sleeve. Lesnar vs. Seth in a rematch for the title at Summerslam sounds likely, so they could sow the seeds right now by having the cash-in go down. Since we’re not putting any points on the line, I’ll take a stab at calling the cash-in TONIGHT! Lesnar leaves as the Universal Champion.
