Amazon’s Prime Video picks up rights for John Cena’s new movie

Variety.com is reporting that Amazon’s Prime Video has purchased the worldwide rights for John Cena’s newest movie titled Ricky Staticky.

Cena will star alongside with Zac Efron in the movie from Peter Farrelly, the man behind Something About Mary and Hall Pass.

The synopsis for the movie reads, “Ricky Stanicky is the name of an imaginary character invented and perpetuated by three friends over several years so that they have someone to blame for their misbehavior. When their partners become suspicious, they’re forced to hire a washed-up actor to bring Stanicky to life.”

Cena will play the role of Stanicky in the film.

The movie is filming in Melbourne, Australia over the next two months and both main stars are already in the country. Melbourne will double for Providence, Rhode Island.

What this means for Cena’s role at WrestleMania remains to be seen as production will go into March as well.
