Batista’s Army of the Dead movie drops on Netflix today

The movie Army of the Dead, featuring former WWE champion Batista, moves to Netflix starting today.

The movie revolves around a group of mercenaries who plot a $200 million heist on a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. Starring along with the future WWE Hall of Famer are Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi and Garret Dillahunt. It is directed by Zack Synder, the man behind movies such as The Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, and many others.

Army of the Dead was the sponsor of WrestleMania Backlash and Batista did the cold opening for the show with clips from the movie inserted. But perhaps the most controversial moment of the sponsorship came when zombies acted as lumberjacks during the Damien Priest vs The Miz match, a move that was universally panned.

When one fan on Twitter complained to Batista about it, Batista wondered why they’re tweeting him instead of Vince McMahon, saying he didn’t book the zombies to be on the show!
