Disney movie Moana with Dwayne Johnson gets two Academy Award nominations

The Disney animated movie Moana, featuring Dwayne Johnson, received an Academy Award nomination in the Animated Feature Film category.

Joining Moana for the important prize are Kubo and the Two Strings, My Life as a Zucchini, The Red Turtle, and Zootopia. Moana directors John Musker and Ron Clements, along with producer Osnat Shurer would pick up the golden statue if the movie wins.

Moana also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for How Far I’ll Go, a song with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Other songs nominated are from movies La La Land, Trolls, and Jim: The James Foley Story.

“Thank you Academy and thank you fans for the global luv,” tweeted The Rock after the nominees were announced.
