In a rare interview with Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast recorded in Los Angeles, Mercedes Mone discussed why she left WWE in the first place and her future.
Asked about walking out of WWE in May 2022 along with Naomi, Mone said that she needed to stand up for herself and it was the hardest decision she ever made in her life.
“But it’s the most proudest. It’s crazy because I would not be sitting here, living the best version of my life and getting to be everything I’ve ever dreamt of. I get to be everything I ever dreamt of and more. You have no idea,” Mone told host Evan Mack, himself a former WWE employee.
Despite walking out and on/off negotiations for a return that went nowhere, Mone did not have one bad thing to say about WWE and credited them for giving her her dreams.
“I can’t say nothing but amazing things to WWE,” the former Raw and Smackdown Women’s champion said. “I’m so thankful for the career that they gave me, the fans that they gave me, the life that they gave me, the dreams that they gave me. So many dreams. I got to chase and live them all.”
Mone, who is also a former IWGP Women’s champion, said she’s ready and better than ever and can’t wait to see all the plans she had in 2023 come to life this year.
“I’ve been making some really big moves. Big business moves and big money moves,” she continued. “I finally think I’ve found a home in a wrestling place.”
Mone was dealing with WWE in December for a return but asked for a ton of money, something that WWE were not willing to pay. She then signed with AEW and will be making her debut next week at the Dynamite: Big Business show in Boston.
