Muhammad Ali passes away at age 74

Perhaps the greatest sportsman of our lifetime, Muhammad Ali, passed away last night at the age of 74.

Ali was admitted to a hospital on June 2 with respiratory problems and has suffered from Parkinson’s disease since 1984. With a record of 56 wins, 5 losses, and several boxing titles, no one can dispute the description that many people give him, simply known as the greatest of all time.

Ali’s connection with wrestling pre-dates his WrestleMania appearance as in 1976 he fought against Antonio Enoki in a boxer vs wrestler match in Tokyo, Japan. In 1985, Muhammad Ali was a part of WrestleMania and served as a special enforcer in the main event between Hulk Hogan and Mr T vs Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr Wonderful. In that match Ali also got physical and took a shot at Piper.

The WWE website acknowledged Ali’s death with a short post while several WWE Superstars paid tribute to the champ on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.
