Senate confirms Linda McMahon as Administrator of the Small Business Administration

Linda McMahon, the former WWE Chief Executive Officer, was confirmed by the Senate earlier today to be the Administrator of the Small Business Administration.

McMahon was approved by an 81-19 vote and managed to get bipartisan support for her nomination.

“McMahon, who built a small company from the ground up, understands the many challenges small businesses can face,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said. “She certainly come a long way from sharing a desk with her husband and leasing a typewriter.”

While the head of the SBA is not officially one of the 15 Cabinet positions, the position is considered to be Cabinet-level along with the White House Chief of Staff, Trade Representative, Director of National Intelligence, Ambassador to the United Nations, Director of the OMB, Director of the CIA, and Administrator of the EPA, and she will be attending Cabinet meetings.

Linda McMahon is expected to be sworn in later today.
