The Rock and Under Armour postpone launch of Project Rock gym shoes following latest shooting

Dwayne Johnson’s and Under Armour’s planned launch for his Project Rock gym shoes set for today was postponed out of respect for Jacob Blake and his family.

Blake, a 29-year-old African American, was shot seven times in the back by police in Wisconsin last week, leaving him paralyzed. The shooting has once again revived several protests and several sports leagues yesterday postponed their matches including the NBA which are in the playoffs.

“Out of respect for Jacob Blake & his family we’ll postpone our Project Rock and Under Armour PR3 launch today,” Johnson wrote. “I’ll keep you posted on our relaunch date. Unbelievable we’re here again. Shot 7xs. In the back. In front of his kids. There’s no progress without humanity.”

Project Rock merchandise are one of the best-sellers for Under Armour and the gym shoes are the latest in the collection, shoes which have been in the making for a year and which are “engineered for the hardest works in the room.”
